Why Height Requirements Matter More at Magic Mountain
Six Flags Magic Mountain is legitimately one of the most coaster-dense parks on the planet. With 19 roller coasters and more thrill rides packed into 260 acres than almost anywhere else in the US, a significant chunk of the lineup is gated behind height requirements. Showing up without knowing the numbers means standing at the front of a queue only to get turned away — that kills momentum fast, especially with kids.
All heights are measured in inches. Ride operators measure guests at the front of the line, not at the entrance gate. Wear the shoes your kids will actually wear that day when you check them against these numbers.

Kids Area — Low or No Height Requirements
Looney Tunes Land (formerly Bugs Bunny World, reimagined and reopened June 2026) is the destination for young children. The rides in this area have the lowest thresholds in the park:
- Canyon Cruiser: 33 inches minimum — one of the shortest requirements in the park
- Road Runner Express: 36 inches — a genuine junior coaster with real hills
- Sylvester's Pounce & Bounce: 36 inches
- Speedy Gonzales Hot Rod Racers: 42 inches — the anchor coaster for the children's area
- Several spinning, flying, and mini-rides within Looney Tunes Land have no published minimum or require only that the child can sit independently
Rides With No Height Requirement
A handful of attractions are open to guests of all sizes:
- Looney Tunes Character Meet & Greet areas: No requirement
- Log Jammer (flat ride areas): Verify current status at park
- Show venues and entertainment stages: Open to all
- DC Universe photo ops and interactive experiences: No requirement
Companion Ride Policy
Magic Mountain uses a Rider Switch (also called Child Swap) program. One adult rides while the other waits with children who don't meet the height requirement. When the first adult exits, the second adult can board without waiting in the main queue again. Ask the ride operator at the entrance for the Rider Switch pass before the first adult queues.
Practical Tips
- Measure at home before you go. Kids on the borderline should know their number going in.
- Shoes matter. Platform sneakers or boots can add the inch or two that makes a difference. Flip-flops can cost those same inches.
- Bring the measurement card. Guest Services near the main entrance can measure your child and give you a wristband indicating their height. This prevents re-measurement at every ride and speeds up the process throughout the day.
- Don't bank on the borderline. Ride operators have discretion. If your child is exactly at the minimum, have a Plan B ready.
- Looney Tunes Land is genuinely built for the under-48-inch crowd. It now has four roller coasters — more than many full theme parks — all accessible to younger guests.
