Busch Gardens Williamsburg Height Requirements: Every Ride Listed
Planning a trip to Busch Gardens Williamsburg and trying to figure out which rides your kids can actually go on? The park has a wide range of height requirements, from the toddler-friendly Land of the Dragons up through the biggest coasters at 54 inches. Family and Shorter-Requirement Rides
These are accessible to most kids who have cleared 36"–42":

- Skyride (gondola between England and Italy sections) — no height requirement with adult
- Battering Ram (swinging pendulum) — 42" minimum
Kids Areas: Sesame Street Forest of Fun and Land of the Dragons
Busch Gardens has two dedicated kids zones where the height requirements are measured differently — either by the child's ability to walk or by companion rules.
Sesame Street Forest of Fun includes:
- Kids' first coaster (open to children 36"–54" who can walk unassisted, or accompanied by a companion 14+)
- Abby's Flower Tower (spinning ride)
- Elmo's Treehouse (multi-level play structure)
- Character meets with Elmo, Cookie Monster, and friends
Land of the Dragons includes:
- Dragon-themed ride: 36"–56" to ride, or accompanied by a companion
- Ladybug ride: must be able to walk and under 56" tall
- Water play area with jumping jets
- Treehouse rope course
Grover's Alpine Express (junior coaster): 38"–41" with a companion 14+ or 41" to ride alone
Height Check Stations
Busch Gardens offers dedicated Child Height Check Stations near the park entrance. These give you a wristband that confirms your child's height before you reach the ride — no more walking to the front of the queue only to find out your kid doesn't make the cut. Use these first thing when you arrive.
What Rides Have No Height Requirement
A handful of attractions are open to all guests regardless of height:
- Rhine River Cruise
- Skyride (with adult)
- Sesame Street and Land of the Dragons play structures
- Most live shows and entertainment
Quick Planning Tips
- Most big coasters start at 48". Kids who are 47" might clear one or two and get blocked at others — measure at home before your trip so expectations are set.
- Kids who are 52" unlock almost the entire park including Pantheon and Apollo's Chariot.
- InvadR at 46" is a great first "real" coaster for kids on the edge — it's a wooden coaster with airtime but manageable intensity.
- Big Bad Wolf at 42" minimum with a companion is often the first inversion-adjacent experience for smaller kids, and it's genuinely fun for adults too.
