Planning your trip from Los Angeles
Los Angeles may have the best theme park density of any city in the country. Disneyland and Disney California Adventure in Anaheim are 45 minutes south. Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia is 45 minutes north — 20 coasters, more than any park on earth. Knott's Berry Farm is 45 minutes southeast in Buena Park. Universal Studios Hollywood is 20 minutes from downtown on the way to Six Flags.
The LA park cluster is year-round, which means crowds are possible any time. Best strategy: January–February weekdays for all parks. Avoid spring break (March), all summer weekends, and any holiday. Disneyland is the most expensive and most crowded; Six Flags Magic Mountain on a January weekday can yield 20-minute waits on 20 coasters.
