How Dorney Park's Event Calendar Works
Dorney Park runs five distinct seasonal events throughout the operating year. Some events are daytime add-ons running alongside normal park operations. Others (Halloween Haunt) transform the park after dark into a separate ticketed experience. Understanding which is which before you buy tickets prevents the most common guest frustration: arriving expecting a specific event and finding it runs different hours or requires separate admission.
The 2026 season opens May 8. Wildwater Kingdom opens May 23.
Summer Kickoff and Star-Spangled Nights (Early Summer)
The park's summer opening in May focuses primarily on getting full operations running — all coasters, Wildwater Kingdom, Planet Snoopy. There's no distinct branded event in May or early June beyond the standard season.
Star-Spangled Nights runs over the July 4th weekend (July 4-5 in 2026, replacing Viva La Fiesta for those two days). The event features a fireworks display synced to a patriotic soundtrack. Fireworks typically launch from inside the park after dark, visible from most of the midway. The park runs extended hours for these nights.
If you're visiting specifically for fireworks, this is the window. If you're trying to avoid crowds, the July 4th weekend is one of the busiest of the year — plan accordingly.
SPLASH! Water Parade (Summer 2026)
New for 2026, the SPLASH! Water Parade is an interactive midway parade running through the summer season. This is not a traditional sit-and-watch parade — it's designed for guest participation.
The parade features the fictional Wacky Water Works Company, with performers in costume, themed floats, and water effects built into the route. Interactive zones along the midway include water blasters, spray effects, and moments where performers pull guests into the action. It's a getting-wet experience, intentionally.
What to know:
- The parade runs through the main midway areas
- Bring a change of clothes or plan on riding wet, because the spray zones are not subtle
- Check the app for posted parade times — they change by day of week and weather conditions
- The parade is included with regular park admission, no upcharge
This event is pitched at families with younger kids and anyone who wants a midday cool-down. Coaster-focused visitors won't interact with it at all unless they happen to be on the midway during a run.
Viva La Fiesta (Saturdays and Sundays, Late June through Late July)
Viva La Fiesta runs on Saturdays and Sundays between June 20 and July 26 (2026 schedule), excluding July 4-5 which become Star-Spangled Nights. The event celebrates Caribbean and Latin American cultures with live entertainment on stages throughout the park, themed food and beverages, and family-friendly activities.
For food specifically, Viva La Fiesta is worth knowing about because it brings in food vendors with items that aren't on the regular park menu — empanadas, tostones, and other regional items that supplement the standard Chickie's & Pete's and burger-heavy lineup.
Viva La Fiesta is entirely included with park admission. It's a background event rather than a destination event — if your visit falls on a qualifying weekend, you'll encounter it on the midway. It's not a reason to specifically choose a weekend visit over a weekday unless the food or live music matters to you.
Tricks & Treats (Weekends, Mid-September through Early November)
Tricks & Treats runs on weekends from September 19 through November 1 (2026 dates). This is a daytime, family-friendly Halloween event designed for children — not a scare event.
What it includes:
- Trick-or-treating stations scattered through the park where kids in costume collect candy
- Themed shows featuring the Peanuts gang in Halloween costumes, running multiple times daily
- Seasonal rides and activities — some rides get light theming for the season
- Costume-friendly environment — kids and adults in costume are common and welcome
This event runs during regular park operating hours and is included with standard admission. It's a meaningful add-on for families with young children who want a Halloween experience without the intensity of Haunt.
Tricks & Treats vs. Halloween Haunt: These two events can run on the same day — Tricks & Treats during the daytime, Haunt starting in the evening. The Haunt is a separate ticket and age-appropriate only for older kids and adults. Families with young children attending Tricks & Treats should plan to leave before Haunt begins, as the transition is abrupt and the scare zone setup is not suitable for young kids.
Halloween Haunt (Friday and Saturday Nights, Mid-September through Halloween)
Halloween Haunt Presented by SNICKERS is Dorney Park's flagship seasonal event and the park's most attended programming outside of regular summer operations. In 2026 it runs on select nights from September 18 through October 31.
What Halloween Haunt Includes
Haunted Mazes: Multiple walk-through haunted house experiences with professional actors, sets, and effects. In 2025, the park changed its maze policy — maze access now requires a separate Haunted Attractions Pass sold at $15 online or at the park. General Haunt admission does not automatically include maze entry. This is an important change to know before you arrive.
Scare Zones: Themed areas of the midway where actors roam and interact with guests. These are included with the base Haunt ticket. There are typically several distinct themed scare zones spread across the park's midway.
Night Rides: Most of the park's major coasters operate during Haunt hours. Iron Menace at night, in particular, hits differently — the drop is effectively invisible in the dark. Night rides on Talon and Steel Force are also popular.
Live Entertainment: Multiple performance stages run throughout the night.
Ticketing
- Haunt requires separate admission from regular day tickets (though season pass holders are typically included — confirm current pass benefits)
- Haunted Attractions Pass (maze access): $15 additional, available online and at the park
- Haunt starts at 6pm; the park transitions during late afternoon
- Regular day tickets do not automatically convert to Haunt admission
Crowd Impact
Halloween Haunt is one of the busiest events Dorney Park runs. Friday nights are typically more manageable than Saturdays. Mid-October Saturdays are the most attended nights of the entire year. If you're coming for the mazes, arrive at 6pm when the event opens — maze waits grow through the night and can hit 45-60 minutes at peak.
