The Short Version
Epcot is the most height-restriction-friendly park at Walt Disney World. Out of all the rides in the park, only five have minimum height requirements — and none of them are above 44 inches. Every other attraction is fair game for any age or height.
This matters a lot if you're traveling with toddlers or smaller kids. Unlike Hollywood Studios (where several headliners exclude kids under 40") or Magic Kingdom, Epcot stacks the deck toward families.
Rides With Height Requirements
| Attraction | Location | Minimum Height |
|---|---|---|
| Test Track | World Discovery | 40 inches |
| Soarin' Around the World | World Nature | 40 inches |
| Mission: SPACE (Green — Less Intense) | World Discovery | 40 inches |
| Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind | World Discovery | 42 inches |
| Mission: SPACE (Orange — More Intense) | World Discovery | 44 inches |
Notes on Each
Test Track is a simulated vehicle design experience that builds to a high-speed test run. The motion is mild — more fast-moving car than roller coaster — but Disney still holds the 40" line.
Soarin' Around the World is a hang-glider simulator that lifts you in a gentle arc while a giant IMAX-style dome plays aerial footage of global landmarks. The height requirement exists because of how the ride vehicle suspends passengers, not because it's intense. Kids who hit 40" almost always love it.
Mission: SPACE Green uses a motion simulator but keeps the centrifuge off. It's noticeably calmer than the Orange side and suitable for most kids over 40". Cast members can guide you if you're unsure which to pick.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the park's biggest thrill — an indoor reverse-launch coaster with rotating vehicles and a '70s-'80s soundtrack. The extra 2" over the other 40" rides signals a genuine step up in intensity. If your kid is borderline on height, note that this one also moves differently than anything else in the park.
Mission: SPACE Orange adds a centrifuge that simulates G-forces from a rocket launch. Not suitable for guests with heart conditions, inner ear issues, or motion sickness. Even adults bail on this one regularly. Kids must be at least 44" and comfortable with sustained pressure.
Rides With No Height Requirement
Everything else at Epcot is open to guests of any height:
- Frozen Ever After (Norway Pavilion) — slow boat ride, gentle splashes
- Remy's Ratatouille Adventure (France Pavilion) — 4D dark ride, no drops
- Spaceship Earth — slow Omni-mover through history of communication
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends — clamshell ride through an aquarium
- Living with the Land — flat-water greenhouse boat tour
- Gran Fiesta Tour (Mexico Pavilion) — indoor boat ride
- Journey Into Imagination with Figment — slow dark ride
- Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana — walk-through water trail
- Turtle Talk with Crush — live interactive show
- Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival — 4D film experience
Rider Switch at Epcot
If one parent or adult needs to stay with a child who doesn't meet a height requirement, Rider Switch is available at all five restricted attractions. One adult rides while the other waits with the child near the exit, then the second adult gets to use the Lightning Lane entrance without waiting in the standby line again. Request it from a cast member at the attraction entrance.
Measuring Kids Before You Go
Disney measures in shoes. If your child is close to a cutoff, measure them at home with their park shoes on — the same pair they'll wear that day. Half an inch of sole can matter. Cast members use a fixed board and measure each time, so there's no negotiating the number.
Bottom Line for Families
A child who is 40" tall can ride 4 out of 5 restricted attractions. A child who is 42" can ride all 5 (both Mission: SPACE sides and Guardians). Below 40", the entire park is still wide open — World Showcase alone keeps young kids busy for hours.
