Before You Leave the House
Download the Disneyland app before you go. This is not optional. The app controls Lightning Lane purchases, mobile food ordering, wait time tracking, and park maps. You will need it at the gate. Link your tickets in advance so entry is a phone tap rather than a printed voucher dig.
Check the park hours the day before. DCA's hours shift based on the season, day of the week, and whether there is a special event in the park that night. An after-hours event like Oogie Boogie Bash means daytime crowds start earlier and the park fills fast.

Parking
Disneyland Resort has three main lots: Mickey & Friends Parking Structure, Pixar Pals Parking Structure, and the Toy Story surface lot. Standard daily parking is $40 for a car. Mickey & Friends is the largest and has tram service directly to the main entrance Esplanade.
Arriving at the parking structure and getting on the tram takes 20-30 minutes if you arrive right at park opening. Factor that in -- being in the parking structure at park open time is not the same as being at the gates. Aim to be in your car's space 75-90 minutes before park opening.
Cheaper alternative: Several off-site lots around Harbor Boulevard charge $15-25 and are a 10-15 minute walk to the gates. If you are visiting with adults who do not mind a short walk, this saves real money on a multi-day trip.

The Gate and Early Entry
Security typically starts screening guests 30-45 minutes before listed park opening. There is no benefit to arriving more than 60 minutes before opening -- you will just be standing in the Esplanade.
Early Entry (30 extra minutes) is a benefit for guests staying at an on-site Disneyland Resort hotel. If you are staying off-site, you do not get this perk. During Early Entry, the most popular option is to head straight to Radiator Springs Racers or WEB SLINGERS.
At regular rope drop, the rope is pulled back from Buena Vista Street and guests can walk into the park. Riders who want Radiator Springs Racers should veer right toward Cars Land as soon as the rope drops. Riders who want Guardians of the Galaxy or WEB SLINGERS should go left toward Hollywood Land and Avengers Campus.

The Must-Ride List (Prioritized)
For a single day at DCA, hit these in roughly this order:
1. Radiator Springs Racers -- rope drop or Lightning Lane Single Pass; waits hit 60-90 minutes by 10 AM
2. Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! -- ride early or late; single rider line moves well
3. WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure -- single rider available, no height minimum
4. Soarin' Around the World -- Grizzly Peak area, best done mid-morning before lunch crowds
5. Toy Story Midway Mania -- any time, line moves fast
6. Incredicoaster -- early morning or within an hour of park close when waits drop
7. Grizzly River Run -- midday if it is hot; late afternoon if the weather is mild

Lockers
Lockers are available inside the park on Buena Vista Street (to the right after you enter the main gate) and outside the gates in the Esplanade. Inside sizes are $7 and $10 per day. Outside options go up to $15 for larger sizes. You can access your locker multiple times throughout the day.
Free short-term lockers are available near Grizzly River Run -- they are designed to hold your stuff while you get soaked on the raft ride. Limit is about 2 hours.

What Surprises First-Timers
Buena Vista Street is not just a walkway. DCA's entrance area is a fully themed 1920s Los Angeles recreation. Carthay Circle Restaurant is here, along with bakeries, coffee, and ice cream. Most guests walk through it at speed. Slow down on the way out.
Cars Land is bigger than it looks on maps. Once you are in it, the landscape -- fake mesas, Route 66 signage, Cozy Cone Motel -- is genuinely immersive. Budget extra time just to walk around.
The park is smaller than Disneyland. You can walk the entire perimeter in about 20 minutes. Do not let that fool you into thinking you can do everything in a half-day; the headliner waits eat time fast.
Avengers Campus has character encounters that happen without a line. Black Widow, Black Panther, and other heroes appear on schedule in the campus. A schedule is in the app.

Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not skip breakfast thinking you will eat in the park at 9 AM -- counter service lines at park open are 20-30 minutes long
- Do not walk past the Lightning Lane tap points if you have a pass -- you have to activate it before you join the Lightning Lane queue
- Do not ride Grizzly River Run right before you need to drive home or board a flight -- it will soak you
- Do not save Radiator Springs Racers for the afternoon -- waits regularly hit 75-90 minutes by 11 AM and stay there
