The Outside Food Rule Is the Most Important Dining Fact Here

Before covering any food vendor at Funtown Splashtown USA, the single most important dining fact: outside food and drinks are permitted in the park. No glass containers, but coolers are welcome. For families visiting on a budget, this changes the math entirely. You can bring sandwiches, snacks, fruit, and drinks from home, stash the cooler near the entrance, and only buy park food for the things worth buying (soft-serve, fried dough, the occasional burger).

This policy is unusual among amusement parks and worth taking advantage of. A family of four easily spends $60–$80 on park food at a mid-size regional park. Packing a cooler cuts that to whatever you decide is worth the park experience.

In-Park Dining Locations

Funtown Splashtown USA has multiple food stands distributed between the Funtown USA amusement park side and the Splashtown USA water park side. There is no single signature sit-down restaurant — the model is counter-service stands spread throughout the property.

Funtown USA Side

Main food stand (near the Antique Cars ride):

Chicken Tenders, French Fries, Fried Dough, Cheeseburgers, Salads, Wraps, Pizza, Hot Dogs, Chicken Sandwich, Uncrustables, Soda, and Bottled Water. This is the most comprehensive menu in the park and the closest thing to a full-meal stop on the dry side.

Antique Cars area cart:

Pretzels, Cotton Candy, Frozen Bananas, ICEES, Bottled Water, and Soda. Snack stop, not a meal.

Smoothie Stand (across from Helicopters):

Non-alcoholic all-natural fruit smoothies. Also near the Sweet Tooth Candy Shoppe. A reasonable mid-day refresh option.

Dippin' Dots Stand (near Family Fun Lagoon):

Original Dots, toppings, Dot Sundaes, Bottled Water, Soda. A crowd-pleaser for every age group that usually has a shorter wait than the main food stands.

Splashtown USA Side

Near Mount Olympus Water Slides:

Craft Burgers, Fresh Cut French Fries, Hot Dogs, Bottled Water, Soda. The "craft burger" positioning makes this the premium food option in the park — prices are higher but quality is better than the standard flat-grill patty.

Near Mammoth and Tornado Entrance:

Soft Serve Ice Cream, Sundaes, Shakes, Cotton Candy, Popcorn, Bottled Water, Soda. Purely dessert and snack; not a meal stop.

Pricing

Funtown Splashtown USA's food pricing is regional-park standard — elevated compared to outside, but nowhere near the prices at major chain parks. Expect:

When to Eat

Eat at 11 AM, not noon. The food stands, particularly the main counter near Antique Cars, develop significant lines from about 12:00–1:30 PM as the park hits peak attendance. Eating at 11 AM means you have already done two or three major rides (Excalibur and Dragon's Descent) and you hit the food stands before the rush.

Use the afternoon transition strategically. If your plan is to move from Funtown USA to Splashtown USA after lunch, eat on the Funtown side before you cross over. The food stands in Splashtown tend to be busier during peak afternoon water park hours.

The 3 PM window is the second opportunity. Lines at food stands thin out after 3 PM as some families begin leaving. If you are doing a late-day visit, food wait times are minimal.

Dining Pass and Season Pass Value

Funtown Splashtown USA does not operate a Disney-style dining plan or unlimited meal pass as of recent seasons. Season pass holders receive a coupon sheet with in-park discounts, which may include food discounts — confirm current specifics at purchase.

For a single-day visit with a family who packs their own main meal and only buys park food for snacks and treats, the out-of-pocket food spend is manageable. The outside food policy is the most reliable way to keep dining costs predictable.

Near the Park

Saco and Old Orchard Beach (about 10 minutes away) have a full range of restaurants if you want to have dinner off-site after your park day. The park's Route 1 corridor has fast food chains, pizza, and seafood. Old Orchard Beach has classic Maine boardwalk food — fried seafood, lobster rolls, pizza by the slice — that makes for a natural post-park dinner stop if you are exploring the area.

The Bottom Line

Funtown Splashtown USA's dining setup is functional and reasonably priced by amusement park standards, but it is not a food destination. The craft burger stand near Mount Olympus is the best in-park food option. The fried dough is a classic that nobody should skip on an amusement park visit in Maine. And if you are feeding a family on a budget, pack the cooler — the park explicitly welcomes it.
