How Magic Kingdom Special Events Work
Magic Kingdom's major seasonal events are separate-ticket experiences that happen on select evenings from late summer through December. They are not included with standard park admission. On event nights, the park is partially converted to support the event, and regular daytime guests are cleared out before the ticketed event begins — though party ticket holders can enter the park as early as 4 PM, three hours before the event officially starts.
The events use the park at lower crowd density than a typical day, since attendance is capped and ticketed separately. Many people who attend specifically for the exclusive entertainment find this is the best time they've ever experienced Magic Kingdom.
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Dates: Select nights from August 7 through October 31, 2026. The event runs 7 PM to midnight, with party ticket holders entering as early as 4 PM.
Ticket pricing: $119 to $229 per person plus tax, varying by event date. Earlier dates in August are typically cheaper; nights in late October approaching Halloween are the most expensive and sell out first.
Discounts: Annual Passholders and eligible Disney Vacation Club members save $10 per ticket for events from August 7 through October 2, 2026.
What's Included
Trick-or-treat trails: Candy stations are set up throughout the park. Guests can collect bags full of candy while walking through the park. This is a genuine family highlight — the candy is full-size and plentiful, and the atmosphere throughout the park is unlike any other night.
Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade: The signature event parade, led by the Headless Horseman on horseback. This is one of the most visually impressive parades Disney runs anywhere. Floats feature villains and classic characters in Halloween costumes. Runs twice on most event nights (typically 8:15 PM and 10:30 PM — the later parade is less crowded).
Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks: A dedicated Halloween fireworks show narrated by Mickey Mouse as he navigates a villain-filled story. Different from the park's regular nighttime spectacular.
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular: A live stage show at the Castle Forecourt Stage featuring the Sanderson Sisters from the 1993 movie. A mix of original music, Disney villain cameos, and audience participation. This is the event's cult-favorite experience — fans who know it plan their evening around seeing it twice.
Character meets in Halloween costumes: Characters appear in special Halloween versions of their outfits. Some characters only appear at Not-So-Scary events, making this the only way to meet them in certain costumes.
New in 2026: Stitch hosts an ever-changing dance party at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland, joined by Lilo and Angel.
Food and merchandise: Limited-edition Halloween food items and merchandise are available only on event nights. The seasonal snacks (themed sweets, pumpkin spice variations, specialty popcorn buckets) are a separate purchase.
Tips for the Halloween Party
- Costumes are encouraged for all ages, with some guidelines (no trailing fabric, no weapons, full face paint limits for adults).
- The late October dates sell out months in advance. If you want a specific date, buy early.
- Use the 4 PM early entry to ride headliners before the evening entertainment begins. By 7 PM, your goal should be shows and trick-or-treating, not standing in ride queues.
- The Headless Horseman appearance at the start of the Boo-to-You Parade is brief but iconic — find your spot 30-45 minutes before parade time.
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
Dates: Select nights from November 8 through December 22, 2026. Event runs 7 PM to midnight, with party ticket holders entering at 4 PM.
Ticket purchase windows: Disney Resort and select hotel guests can purchase tickets starting July 9, 2026 (for nights during their stay). All other guests can buy starting July 16, 2026.
What's Included
Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade: The park's signature Christmas parade, running through the Magic Kingdom streets with elaborate floats, characters in holiday attire, and live performers. Snow falls from machines along the parade route.
Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks: A dedicated holiday fireworks show set to Christmas music.
Holiday stage shows: Christmas-themed entertainment at the Castle Forecourt Stage and other venues throughout the park. Specific lineup varies by year.
Holiday character meets: Characters in Christmas costumes, including some exclusive to the event.
Holiday food and hot cocoa: Complimentary hot cocoa and apple cider are available at stations throughout the park on event nights. This alone is a tangible value-add compared to paying for a hot drink at a kiosk.
Snow on Main Street: Snow machines create a light snowfall effect on Main Street, U.S.A. throughout the evening.
Tips for the Christmas Party
- November dates are typically less expensive and less crowded than December nights.
- The park is decorated for Christmas from mid-November, but you'll only see the parade, fireworks, and full entertainment lineup on actual event nights.
- Book dining reservations for event nights well in advance — Be Our Guest specifically looks different at night and is popular on party evenings.
Regular Seasonal Events (Included with Admission)
Not everything seasonal requires a separate ticket:
- Christmas decorations: The park decorates Cinderella Castle with lights and holiday theming from mid-November through the first week of January. This is visible on any regular admission day.
- New Year's Eve: Magic Kingdom typically extends park hours on December 31 with a special midnight countdown. Regular admission; fireworks at midnight.
- Fourth of July: Extended park hours with fireworks on July 4. One of the highest-attendance days of the year — factor in crowds and arrive very early if you plan to attend.
Should You Buy a Party Ticket?
If you're visiting during the Halloween or Christmas season with kids old enough to appreciate trick-or-treating or a parade, the party is worth the cost for most families. The lower crowd density alone — compared to a standard daytime visit — makes the park feel different. The exclusive entertainment (Headless Horseman parade, Hocus Pocus show, Christmas fireworks) is genuinely not available any other way.
If you're visiting solo or without young children and primarily care about rides, the party adds less value since ride times, while shorter than midday, can be managed during morning rope drop visits without the additional ticket cost.
