Knoebels Runs Events That Are Actually Worth Showing Up For
A lot of parks slap Halloween decorations on existing rides and call it a seasonal event. Knoebels does more than that. The park's off-season and shoulder-season programming has a genuine community feel — Hallo-Fun in particular has been running for decades and draws families who return specifically for it, not just as an add-on to a regular visit.
Here's what each major event looks like and what to expect.
Hallo-Fun: October Weekends
When: Four weekends in October — typically the first four weekends of the month. In 2025, dates ran October 4–6, 11–13, 18–20, and 25–27.
- Fridays: 6–10pm
- Saturdays: 2–10pm
- Sundays: noon–5pm
What it is: Hallo-Fun is a family-focused Halloween event, not a scare-fest. The orientation is firmly toward families with kids rather than haunted house experiences for teenagers. That's a meaningful distinction — if you're bringing children under 10, Hallo-Fun is appropriate. It is not the same as Knott's Scary Farm or Halloween Horror Nights.
What's included:
- Over 50 rides operating with Halloween theming, including the Haunted Antique Cars, Pioneer Train Halloween Express, and Panther Cars themed for the season
- Morning activity programming: cookie decorating, pumpkin painting, kids craft corner, and bingo with Knoebels prizes
- Seasonal decorations throughout the midway and grove
- Costumed characters and themed entertainment — check the day's schedule at the entrance
- Seasonal food offerings
Tickets: Standard ride pricing applies — Ride All Day passes or ticket books. Hallo-Fun does not have a separate admission fee on top of that.
Crowd impact: The October weekends draw big crowds, especially the last two weekends of the event. If you're going for the rides and not specifically for Hallo-Fun programming, mid-October weekdays (when the park runs its regular season) may offer shorter waits.
Specific events within Hallo-Fun: The park hosts a Fright Show and the RATL n' Bones event — check knoebels.com/events for current details on each as dates are finalized season by season.
Joy Through the Grove: Christmas/Holiday Event
When: Nightly from 5:30pm to 9pm through December 31 (excluding Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
What it is: A drive-through light experience — you drive your car through the park on a two-mile illuminated path featuring over 500 illuminated displays. This is not a walk-through event; you experience it from your vehicle. The display features themed sections including nostalgic and holiday-themed pieces.
Christmas Village: Thursdays through Sundays through December 21, an additional Christmas Village experience runs at the Three Ponds Golf Course adjacent to the park. This add-on includes:
- Photo opportunities with Santa Claus
- Outdoor light displays
- Fire pits with s'mores
- Holiday shopping vendors
- Grab-and-go food
Breakfast with Santa: Available on select weekends in December (typically December 6–7, 13–14, and 20–21 in past seasons) — Kozmo Klaus (the park's holiday character) joins. Check knoebels.com for specific dates each year.
Crowd impact: Joy Through the Grove attracts significant traffic on weekends in December. Weeknight visits (especially early December) are less crowded and parking is not an issue.
Summer Entertainment: Hawaiian Bandshell
Throughout the regular season (roughly May through September), Knoebels runs free live entertainment at the Hawaiian Bandshell and other outdoor stages. The 2026 entertainment schedule includes performances starting at noon most weekdays.
The acts are actual performers — cover bands playing full sets, specialty variety acts, comedy performers. The Vinyl Vault (a show band focused on music from the vinyl era) and Chris Eckert with a full band are recurring acts. These shows are free with park entry (which is itself free).
This programming gets overlooked by first-timers focused on ride strategy, but it's a genuine value-add and gives the park an atmosphere that feels more like a community festival than a commercial operation.
Opening Weekend
Knoebels holds a formal Opening Weekend event at the start of each season, typically in late April or early May. The 2026 season is the park's centennial — its 100th anniversary — which has added commemorative events, historical exhibits, and exclusive merchandise throughout the season opening weekend forward.
Opening Weekend typically offers discounted pricing on Ride All Day passes and draws a mix of local regulars and coaster enthusiasts making their first visit of the season. The Phoenix and Flying Turns are the draws, and the energy of an opening weekend is noticeably different from a mid-season visit.
Planning Your Event Visit

- The park's centennial in 2026 means special programming throughout the year that may not repeat in future seasons
