The Story
Every sneaker company on earth promises to give you air. One man went out and took it.
Bridge Bay Campground. Quiet evening. A grandfather and his 13-year-old grandson go for a walk after dinner, which is a normal thing that normal people do, and which does not typically end in a hospital in Montana.
Then two thousand pounds of hooved bad decision decided it was going to be a track meet.
He had about four seconds and exactly one play in the book. He sent the boy sprinting one way, then took off the other.
He was not running for cover. He was running to be chased.
That is the whole ad, right there. He did not panic. He did not freeze. At sixty-five years old he read the field, picked the route that guaranteed he was the one getting hit, and ran it at a full sprint. The alternative was a 13-year-old boy running it instead.
The bison got the hip. He got eight feet of vertical, a complete rotation, and a landing the judges scored generously.
The grandson got to go home.
