Where to Eat at Universal Islands of Adventure

The food at Islands of Adventure is better than the average theme park — mainly because two of the anchor restaurants (Mythos and Three Broomsticks) take the theming and quality seriously. The quick-service options range from good to fine, with a few specific items worth tracking down.

The Crowd Pattern You Need to Know

The single most impactful dining decision you can make is timing. Quick-service restaurants at Islands of Adventure reach full capacity between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Tables disappear, lines double, and the experience degrades across the board.

Full-Service Restaurants

Mythos Restaurant

Mythos is carved into a rock face overlooking the central lagoon and serves what is genuinely good food for a theme park — and legitimately good food by any standard. The interior feels like a grotto with water flowing through the walls; the ambience alone is worth a lunch stop.

Standout dishes: Lamb Meatballs, Pad Thai, Fork-Tender Beef Medallions. The risotto changes seasonally. Expect entrees in the $18–$28 range. Reservations are available and strongly recommended for lunch; use the Universal Orlando website or call ahead. Walk-ins are possible at dinner.

Note: Mythos is slated to permanently close sometime before 2027 as the Lost Continent area where it sits undergoes transformation. If Mythos is on your list, do not wait for a future trip.

Confisco Grille

Located near the park entrance, Confisco Grille is the other table-service option. The menu is broader than Mythos (burgers, pasta, soups, sandwiches) and the quality is solid. Less atmospheric than Mythos but easier to get a walk-in table. Good option if you want to sit down on arrival morning.

Quick-Service: Best Stops by Area

Three Broomsticks (Hogsmeade)

The most thematic quick-service restaurant at the park. The Great Hall-inspired interior seats hundreds and moves guests through efficiently. The Great Feast family platter — ribs, chicken, corn, potatoes, and salad for four — runs about $60 and is one of the better values in the park. Fish and chips with a frozen Butterbeer is the most photographed meal in Hogsmeade for a reason.

Breakfast is also available here, including pumpkin juice and porridge. Note: Three Broomsticks is the only full dining option in Hogsmeade, so it draws the entire Wizarding World crowd during peak hours. Arrive before 11 AM or after 2 PM.

Thunder Falls Terrace (Jurassic Park)

The open-air dining hall overlooking the Jurassic Park River Adventure had outstanding ribs and chicken. Important note: Thunder Falls Terrace is closing in summer 2026 and will reopen in 2027 as a new full-service dining concept. Verify current status before planning around it.

Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous (Seuss Landing)

A large-capacity cafeteria-style restaurant with the most varied menu in the park: pizza, pasta, burgers, chicken, waffles. Good for families with picky eaters because everyone finds something. The circus theming overhead is elaborate. Lines here stay shorter than Three Broomsticks at peak hours because most guests do not walk this far into Seuss Landing during the lunch rush.

Comic Strip Cafe (Toon Lagoon)

The best burger in Islands of Adventure is generally considered to be the Wellington Cheeseburger at the Toon Lagoon area. The patty is thick, cooked to order, and substantially better than the equivalent at most theme parks. The building's cartoon-style theming makes it easy to dismiss; the food does not warrant dismissal.

Butterbeer: The Definitive Order

If you are visiting Hogsmeade for the first time, try Butterbeer in this order of preference:

1. Frozen Butterbeer — the best texture, butterscotch flavor carries better when frozen

2. Butterbeer ice cream (available at Florean Fortescue's in Diagon Alley across the park, with park-to-park ticket)

3. Cold Butterbeer — the original, a cream soda base with a foam head

4. Hot Butterbeer — seasonal (fall/winter) with a different flavor profile

All four are served in the cart at the Hogsmeade entrance and inside Three Broomsticks.

Universal Dining Card (No Full Dining Plan)

Universal discontinued its traditional dining plan in 2021. As of 2024, the available option is the Dining Card Vacation Package — a prepaid card that can be used for food and beverage at participating restaurants. It provides modest savings versus paying out of pocket but requires buying a vacation package. There is no individual-day meal-deal equivalent to Disney's dining plans.
