How Food Works at Elitch Gardens

Elitch Gardens operates a mix of quick-service restaurants, walk-up stands, and specialty food locations distributed across the park. There's no signature sit-down restaurant with reservations the way you'd find at a major Disney or Universal park. Everything is counter service, with varying line lengths depending on time of day.

The good news: food quality at Elitch Gardens has been a pleasant surprise for a lot of visitors who come in expecting the worst. The bad news: eat at the wrong time and you're looking at 20–30 minutes in a food line when you could be riding.

The Dining Plans: Are They Worth It?

Elitch Gardens sells two dining plan tiers, both attached to season passes (not available as standalone for single-day tickets, though the park occasionally bundles them with single-day promotions):

Regular Dining Plan — $64.99

Premium Dining Plan — $104.99

Upgrade path: If you bought the Regular plan and want to upgrade to Premium, you can do it at the park for $50.

Is it worth it? If you're a season pass holder visiting three or more times during the season, the Regular plan pays for itself quickly. For single-visit families, calculate against what you'd actually spend — a burger combo at Elitch Gardens runs $12–$16 per person. A family of four eating lunch and dinner without a plan is easily $80–$120. The Regular plan at $64.99 per person per season, if you're visiting twice, breaks even fast.

Where to Eat in the Park

Big Burgers & Beer — The park's best sit-down-ish quick service location. Craft burgers, beer for adults, and a broader menu than most of the midway stands. This is the spot if you want something that feels like real food rather than amusement park filler. Worth the slightly longer walk to find it.

Pizza and Italian options — Available in the main park. Solid for groups with picky eaters because pizza is pizza.

Turkey Legs and Roasted Corn — Walk-up items scattered around the park, especially near the midway areas. Turkey legs at theme parks are a cliche for a reason — they're filling and easy to eat on the go.

Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders — A menu addition that's become popular with regulars. Better than standard chicken fingers.

Sidewinder Fries — Corkscrew-cut fries, shareable size. Good quick option that works as a snack or a side.

Dippin' Dots — Multiple locations throughout the park. The park's answer to hot weather relief when the ice cream stands have lines.

Funnel Cakes — Multiple midway locations. Classic.

Philly Cheesesteak — Available at select stands. A solid grab if you find it with a short line.

Drink Options

Beverages are not included in the dining plans. The park sells a Souvenir Cup with unlimited Pepsi product refills for the season — essentially a drink pass tied to a cup. This is worth the upfront cost if you're visiting multiple times or if your group drinks a lot of soda. Refill stations are distributed across the park.

Bring a water bottle. Water fountains are accessible throughout the park and refilling a bottle beats paying $5+ per bottle all day.

When to Eat: The Timing That Actually Matters

The single most impactful food decision you'll make at Elitch Gardens is timing.

Outside Food Policy

Elitch Gardens' general policy does not allow outside food and beverages into the park. Exceptions are typically made for guests with documented dietary restrictions or medical needs, and for small children with specific food requirements — check with Guest Services at the entrance if this applies to your group.

You can exit the park to your car and eat outside without paying a re-entry fee, as long as you get your hand stamped before leaving.

Island Kingdom Food

Island Kingdom, the water park side of Elitch Gardens, has its own food stands operating during water park hours. The offerings are primarily quick-service: sandwiches, snack items, and beverages. Dining plan redemptions typically work in the water park as well — confirm at Guest Services if you want to use your plan on the water park side.
